BodyTite is a minimally-invasive, in-office Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction (RFAL) procedure that melts fat deposits and tightens the overlying skin. It can be used on many areas of the body including the arms, the breasts (male and female), the abdomen, the inner and outer thighs, and the area just above the knee.
BodyTite provides excellent body contouring results previously only achieved with more extensive surgical procedures and long (often visible) scars. It works by delivering rapid and uniform heating to the soft tissue matrix to provide three-dimensional contraction of the skin and fat layer.
Does BodyTite remove fat?
Yes, BodyTite removes fat. A more generic or functional term for BodyTite is “RFAL” or Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction. In addition to tightening the skin and the fat layer, the radiofrequency (RF) energy melts problematic fat during the procedure which is then removed with liposuction once the RF portion is completed.
BodyTite vs Liposuction
When liposuction by itself is used to remove fat, we depend on the elasticity of the overlying skin to contract down over the new, smaller contour and, in ideal candidates, this works very well. However, in patients with less than ideal skin elasticity, the skin may not contract as well as we would have hoped, leaving the skin loose or even hanging. In these patients, the loose skin will need to be surgically excised to provide an optimum result. Typically, these skin excisions result in rather long scars that may or may not be visible, depending on their location.
BodyTite uses radiofrequency energy to assist liposuction (RFAL) by melting the problematic fat and shrinking the skin as well as contracting the soft tissues so that skin excisions are either not required or so that it is possible to perform a much smaller skin excision with a shorter and less obvious scar.
