Not all fillers are created equal. Here at Edward Eades, M.D. Plastic Surgery we offer a selection of injectable fillers to our patients that address every facial volume concern. If you are curious about injectable fillers but aren’t exactly sure what makes the different types unique and which one is right for you, we will discuss the three we offer and their uses.
What are my Options?
Is a hyaluronic based filler indicated for smoothing moderate to deep wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth? Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, making it a safe additive. As we age, our skin loses elasticity, and the repetitive facial movements will create wrinkles and folds also known as “parenthesis”. Juvederm XC will fill and soften these lines, making them less harsh.
Juvéderm Voluma® XC
Another filler from the Juvederm line, Juvederm Voluma is an injectable gel indicated for replacing lost volume in the cheek area. This volume loss can be due to factors such as age and weight loss, affecting the shape of the face. This filler can provide the face with a subtle lift, giving you a more youthful facial contour.
Radiesse is a water-based injectable filler with calcium-based microspheres suspended in it used to plump the skin. The microspheres are very much like minerals naturally found in the body. When Radiesse is injected into the skin it is absorbed and you will be left with smoother and tighter skin in the treated areas. Radiesse is particularly good at treating smile lines and lines and wrinkles caused by aging characteristics such as “jowls”.
